As SRC stockists “How do i buy SRC Pregnancy shorts” is a common question our team get at Activate Physiotherapy. Luckily the answer is quite simple but before we get to that lets give you a little more information on what SRC Pregnancy garments do and what options pregnant women have.
What are SRC Pregnancy Range?
- Can’t stand for longer than 2 minutes?
- Having difficulty just walking around the house?
- Dealing with increased pressure and heaviness in your groin?
- Not to mention all of the stuff that no one warned you about like – low back pain, sciatic nerve pain, pelvic pain (SIJ, Symphysis Pubis pain) or vulval and varicose veins of the upper thigh.
SRC Pregnancy Shorts and Leggings are an effective, non-pharmacological option for prevention and management of pain during pregnancy and are endorsed by the Australian Physiotherapy Association and Australian College of Midwives.
SRC ‘s studies show around 82% of women who wore SRC Pregnancy Shorts or Leggings experienced a reduction in their discomfort. SRC pregnancy range are therapeutic garments that offer support and compression that is wearable all day due to their patented True Cross Compression Fabric and Anatomical Support Panels (ASP). This makes the SRC pregnancy range ideal for treating multiple conditions during pregnancy such as back pain, pelvic pain and varicosities.
What options are available in the SRC Pregnancy Range?
The SRC Pregnancy range comes in 3 differing leg lengths and an over or under bump option. Here’s why you might choose each option:
Lots of our patients prefer the pregnancy mini length in our Queensland climate as they’re the perfect length to go under shorter skirts, dresses and shorts. They’re not super short and come down to a flattering point on your thigh so you can still wear them as outer wear if you prefer. The mini length is also the easiest to put on so if the bump is getting in the way or you need a quick option the mini’s are the way to go.
Pregnancy shorts are the original SRC pregnancy garment. They come down to just above the knee and like the mini’s can be worn as under or outer wear. The key difference is because the compressive fabric goes further down your legs they do give a bit better vascular return than the minis so if you are suffering issues with varicosities in the groin and pelvis these are the option to go with.
Full length pregnancy leggings provide the best venous return and are a fashion staple that can be worn like any other pair of black leggings. However, pregnancy leggings may not be preferable for women who live in warmer climates and are also going to be slightly more difficult to put on than our shorter styles. We love them for exercising in and recommend them for mums who are travelling or who are at risk or showing signs of varicose veins.
Under or Over the Bump?
Once you’ve decided which length best suits your need the other decision to make is Under or Over the bump.
Over the bump products do not have any compression over the belly, however, some women prefer to be fully covered to achieve the feeling of extra support. Both styles provide the exact same level of compression and it is up to you what style they would prefer. Here’s our rule of thumb:
Under the Bump:
- If you don’t want to cover your belly
- If your skin can feel sensitive and itchy
- If you feel hot or live in warmer climates
Over the Bump:
- If you want to cover the bump
- If you like the feeling of extra support without compressing the bump
A note on colour choice
The whole SRC Pregnancy range is available in black. We love that they dont have logos and branding all over them so you can wear them with your regular clothing out and about or to work without feeling like you’re constantly in your active wear.
Some items are also available in champagne, a neutral colour so they can be worn even more discretely or under light coloured clothing too.
How long do they last?
The SRC pregnancy leggings were subjected to a 100-wash test in which they retained their original size and shape when compared against the competitor pregnancy leggings which shrunk significantly. SRC pregnancy leggings also retained the same level of compression at the conclusion of testing whilst competitor pregnancy leggings lost some level of compression.
So whilst there may be other cheaper products on the market the SRC pregnancy range are a great investment that you know will actually do what they say they do.
When can I start wearing SRC pregnancy shorts/leggings?
Pregnancy range can be worn from 12 weeks, or when you start showing until term and many of our patients will use them for multiple pregnancies.
